Opportunities and Challenges

Minister Jong hyun Choi from the Embassy of Korea in Washington, D.C., will visit NBR's new offices at George F. Russell, Jr. Hall in the University District on December 1, 2009 at 9:00 a.m. He will speak about the Korea-U.S. Free Trade Agreement (KORUS FTA) and take questions from the audience. Please join us for coffee and pastries beforehand at 8:30 a.m. to network with NBR staff and other guests. The event will finish promptly at 10:00 a.m.

Mr. Jong hyun Choi has been the Minister for Economic Affairs at the Korean Embassy in Washington, D.C., since March 2008. Since joining the Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1981, he has served in various overseas postings including the United States, Australia, and Belgium. Minister Choi has been mostly involved in international trade matters, most recently having served as Director-General at the Bilateral Trade Bureau, which is responsible for promoting Korea’s bilateral economic and trade relations with the U.S., China, Japan, and the EU. He received his BA from the Department of Political Science and International Relations at Yonsei University in Korea and graduated from the University of Cambridge in the United Kingdom with an MA in International Relations.

 

 
The Next Generation Leadership in Asian Affairs Fellowship is a post-master's program that cultivates a new generation of Asia affairs specialists committed to and capable of bridging the gap between the best scholarly research and the pressing needs of American foreign policy toward a rapidly changing Asia.
